I am running for Governor because Marylanders need a leader who will invest in them. Having led public and private organizations across the state, I have extensive experience in the issues Marylanders care about most, from education to economic development. As Chair of the University System of Maryland, I worked to expand access to and improve the quality of higher education in the state. I developed programs to grow small businesses in East and West Baltimore as Chair of the Empower Baltimore Management Corporation, and I was an advocate for improved transportation outcomes across the state as Chair of the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance. And, for 22 years, I was Chair of Venable, during which time I grew my firm into a global enterprise and the most charitable law firm in the country.
As Governor, my top priority will be improving the state’s public education system to provide every child with the opportunity to succeed. I will also focus on investing in our transportation infrastructure to get people to work quickly and reliably and growing the economy to provide more good-paying jobs to Marylanders.
